Vision
To increase the visibility of Canadian Thanatological research for the promotion of grief literacy and death literacy.
Mission
The Grief and Loss Research Lab (aka The Loss Lab) was developed in 2019 for the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration from a reflexive, feminist-informed perspective. Our collaborative work focuses on the myriad effects of death and non-death losses at various life stages.
The Loss Lab primarily focuses on empirical qualitative research and is engaged in a variety of projects which provide students with opportunities to critically reflect on thanatological research, to better understand the significance of research in this field, and to develop hands on skills.
As the only undergraduate Thanatology program worldwide, our students have the ability to contribute to the field in meaningful ways. This approach aligns with the values and mission of King's University College as an institution situated within the liberal arts tradition that emphasizes education, training, and the sharing of knowledge for the benefit of one's community.
